3. Understanding Leakage Current: LEDs are unidirectional light emitters. If there is reverse current, it is called leakage. LEDs with high leakage current have a shorter lifespan and are relatively cheaper.
4. LED Chips: The light-emitting element of an LED is a chip. Different chips are used; generally, high-quality, expensive chips are imported.

Power Supply for Lighting Fixtures: Depending on the design requirements of different manufacturers, power supplies can be divided into constant current power supplies and constant voltage power supplies. Regardless of the type, the power supply plays a crucial role in the lifespan of the entire lamp. If a lamp fails, it’s usually because the power supply has burned out.
II. How to Select a Solar LED Street Light Battery
Good solar streetlights need to guarantee sufficient lighting time and brightness. To achieve this, the requirements for the battery are naturally high. Currently, the market mainly offers two types: lead-acid batteries (gel batteries) and lithium iron phosphate batteries. Traditional lead-acid batteries have stable voltage, are relatively inexpensive, and are easy to maintain. However, these batteries have low energy density and a relatively short lifespan, requiring frequent maintenance.
The rapidly developing lithium iron phosphate batteries have significant advantages in terms of depth of discharge and charging efficiency. They are also more adaptable to different environments, generally usable in environments ranging from -20℃ to 60℃. They can tolerate temperatures as low as -45°C after special treatment, making them appropriate for a greater variety of uses.
III. How to Select a Solar LED Street Light Controller
In a solar power system, the solar controller is the device that controls the charging of the battery by the solar cells. It should operate continuously throughout the day. Ideally, its power consumption should be kept below 1mAh to avoid excessive energy consumption and reduced power generation efficiency. The controller should ideally have three charging control modes: strong charging, equalization charging, and float charging, to ensure efficient power generation.
Furthermore, the controller should have the function of independent control of two circuits. This facilitates the adjustment of street light power, allowing one or two circuits of lighting to automatically turn off during periods of low pedestrian traffic, thus saving electricity. Manufacturers typically purchase these components from external suppliers and then assemble and configure them. IV. How to Select a Solar Panel
First, we need to determine the photoelectric conversion efficiency (conversion efficiency = power/area) of the solar panel. Closely related to this parameter is the panel itself. Generally, the conversion efficiency of polycrystalline silicon is usually around 14%, with a maximum of 19%, while the conversion efficiency of monocrystalline silicon can reach a minimum of 17% and a maximum of 24%.
