Solar street light lithium battery recycling process

Many people don’t know how to deal with the waste solar street light lithium batteries. Today, Tianxiang, a solar street light manufacturer, will summarize it for everyone. After recycling, solar street light lithium batteries need to go through multiple steps to ensure that their materials and components are effectively recycled and reused.

First, the waste solar street light lithium batteries will be classified and sorted according to different materials and states. Next, the batteries will be disassembled to separate the various components inside the batteries, such as positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, diaphragms and electrolytes. These separated materials are then processed through recycling processes such as pyrometallurgy or wet metallurgy to extract valuable metals and chemicals.

Hard parts such as battery casings are crushed and screened for further processing. These materials can be remanufactured into battery components or other chemical products, thereby realizing the recycling of resources. However, waste batteries may also contain harmful substances, such as heavy metals, which need to be strictly controlled. Professional harmless treatment methods must be adopted to ensure that there is no pollution to the environment.

The government has realized the importance of battery recycling and has introduced a series of policy measures to encourage battery recycling and reuse. These policies not only provide economic incentives, but also set strict penalties for violations. Therefore, any violation of battery recycling regulations will be severely punished by law.

1. For common dry batteries, please directly dispose of them in formal trash cans and do not collect them in a centralized manner (referring to qualified alkaline batteries, lithium batteries, and nickel-metal hydride batteries).

2. For batteries with high levels of hazardous substances, including carbon-zinc batteries (cheap dry batteries before 2005), most button batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries (old-fashioned rechargeable batteries), etc.

(1) If there is a waste battery recycling agency nearby, please hand it over to them (such as some community neighborhood committees, university environmental protection associations, etc.).

(2) If there is no waste battery recycling agency nearby (such as most cities and villages), and the number of batteries is relatively large, you can contact the local environmental protection bureau or mail them to recycling agencies in other cities. For example, the Second Cleaning Branch of Beijing Environmental Sanitation Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (including address and phone number) will collect more than 30 kilograms of waste batteries for free.

(3) If there is no waste battery recycling organization nearby and the number of batteries is small, please seal them and keep them properly until you find a recycling organization.

3. In particular, if a large number of dry batteries have been collected, please classify them first and then dispose of them separately according to the above suggestions. Neither should all types of waste batteries be handed over to the environmental protection department (“In the absence of technical and economic conditions for effective recycling, the government does not encourage the centralized collection of waste disposable batteries that have met the national low mercury or mercury-free requirements”), nor should any type of dry batteries be blindly discarded directly (some types pollute the environment and are harmful to health).

Generally speaking, as citizens of the city, we only need to throw the waste solar street light lithium batteries to the designated recycling points.

As a professional solar street light manufacturer with more than ten years of industry experience, Tianxiang has always taken “energy saving, environmental protection, and green” as its mission and focused on the research and development, production, installation and service of solar street lights.
